Cardiology

The cardiology service is run by Rosie Brandon BVSc CertVD CertVC MRCVS who provide a local cardiology referral service.

Rosie qualified in 1989 and has spent her career based in clinical practice. During that time she has been awarded two Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Certificates (RCVS); become a director of Teignview Veterinary Group and raised a family. Rosie holds both RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Dermatology and RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Cardiology. She is available to see cardiology cases on a daily basis.

We offer a prompt and competitive cardiology referral service for all veterinary species. We are the only cardiology service in the South West lead by an RCVS Diplomate in Veterinary Cardiology.

Our services include all types of cardiology:

• Treatment of congestive heart failure
• Assessment of significance of murmurs in adult dogs/cats and puppies/kittens
• Assessment and management of arrhythmias
• Assessment and management of pericardial effusions
• Assessment and management of collapsing animals
• BVA breed schemes
• Emergency referral service

It is important to have a thorough medical history and consultation with owners in order to assess the likely diagnosis and practical management of problems.

Echocardiography and Doppler Echocardiography

We have full facilities for echocardiography, a key facility and skill in the assessment of cardiac patients.

Digital Radiography

Digital radiography equipment is available at all of our centres.

ECG and Holter

Standard ECG is a long standing but invaluable technique. We also have a number of Holter recorders and software packages for Holter analyis (24 hour ECG Monitor). We can offer this invaluable technique in animals with intermittent arrhythmias, in syncopal animals and in cases where we are treating arrhythmias and assessing the effects of treatment.
